Today,Tuesday October the 9th is Messenger Appreciation Day around the world and in Toronto. "10-9" is a day to recognize the contribution made by hard-working bike, foot & transit messengers as they deliver packages that would certainly be delivered by car were it not for our workforce. The City of Toronto recognized 10-9 Day with a proclamation of recognition from David Miller, Mayor of Toronto. The proclamation was announced and presented to messengers during the annual Bicycle-Friendly Business Awards Ceremony at City Hall on Thursday, October 4th 2007. A framed proclamation was presented to TOBMA Board Member Leah Hollinsworth by Toronto City Council member and Chair of the Toronto Cycling Advisory Committee Adrian Heaps. All Toronto messengers past & present are invited to attend the TOBMA Messenger Appreciation Day Celebration beginning at 6:30pm on Thursday, October 11th at Magpie, 831 Dundas West. Dinner will be served, a cash bar is available and TOBMA members will receive a discount from 6:30pm to 9pm. Fun for all ages, so bring the kids too! A fabulous Vegan option is available for all our vegetarian members. Presented by the TOBMA this event is jointly sponsored by The Messengers International and United Messengers Limited. Please make plans to attend!
